How we choose the finds
Every product on Broke But Fancy earns its spot the boring way: research, honest criteria, and a firm "would we actually buy this?" — never a payment.
What we look for
- The "looks expensive" test. If it reads cheap in photos, it's out — no matter the price.
- Review depth, not just stars. We favor products with a long, consistent review history over shiny new listings with five perfect reviews.
- Real materials & specs. We read the details — dimensions, materials, compatibility — so you don't get drop-shipped regret.
- Genuine usefulness. Aesthetic is nice; aesthetic and functional is the whole brand.
How we research
We combine Amazon best-seller and "movers & shakers" data, review analysis, and current search trends to find what US shoppers are actually looking for — then we filter hard for the pieces that look far pricier than they are. We call out honest trade-offs, not just hype.
Our honesty policy
- We only recommend things we'd genuinely buy or already own.
- No pay-to-play. Brands can't buy a spot or a ranking.
- As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases — at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend. Full disclosure.
- Prices change constantly, so we never publish them — the button always shows Amazon's live price.
